Notifications are here 🗣️! Replies to your threads, @mentions, quotes, and new posts in boards you watch all go through now.

Delivery runs through atmo.pub, a notification relay for atproto apps. You authorize the forum there once and then pick where alerts go: web push, email, Telegram, a Bluesky DM, or a webhook. The forum never sees any of those channels. I didn't build them; atmo.pub does the actual delivering. That is really cool!!!

Turning it on

The bell in the top bar goes to the Notifications page, which now has an atmo.pub panel with a Connect button. It's also in settings. There's a one-time prompt on the home page and after your first post – say no and it won't ask again.

You can manage where those notifications go on atmo.pub, and easily disconnect them in the future if you want.

The bell shows an unread count and the notifications page lists what the forum sent. Reading something on atmo.pub doesn't clear it here, and vice versa.

Watching boards

Watch and unwatch from any board page. The watch record lives in your atproto repo as app.atmobb.forum.watch, so it travels with your account like your membership does.

A couple of things to know

Private board alerts only say something happened and link to the board. No title, no text, no names.

Only posts written through the forum itself trigger alerts for now. Replies coming in through topic federation or other clients don't yet.

If you're on more than one atmoBB forum, each one is its own sender on atmo.pub and needs its own approval.

One heads-up: the forum's permission set changed to add the notification permission, so the next time you log in you'll be asked to approve it again. That's the only reason.
